Is it a fact or a myth? It’s a …..MYTH!

We have all heard about non- usage of extra virgin olive oil for cooking for various reasons. Is it a real fact or a myth? It’s a …..MYTH! Yes you read it right, it’s a Myth. Several studies have proven that extrs virgin olive oil can easily be used for cooking, salad dressings, grilling, dips and for sauteing veggies as well. However, ensure that you buy pure and high-quality extra virgin olive oil.

3 Factors to keep in mind while buying extra virgin olive oil –

  1. Ensure you buy the bottle which is dark coloured. Transparent bottles make the oil heat liable which will reduce its health properties.
  2. Read the labels correctly. Take the one which says ” from the first cold press” which means it is minimally processed. Also look out whether the oil is a blend of any other refined oils with extra virgin olive oil or it is purely extra Virgin olive oil.

3.Lastly, check the date of manufacture. Purchase the one which is not more than 6months or a year old bottle. The older the oil, its risk of getting oxidised and losing its health properties is higher.

So, the next time you are in the supermarket to buy extra virgin olive oil, choose a bottle that passes all the above checks!
